Notes

William Hackin Gray

Christening info comes from IGI batch 9003132
He was christened in 1835 as William Gray Hacking with Alice Hacking as his mother and no father.
On 14 Nov 1836 - just over 1 year later, Alice Hacking married a John Gray also in Accrington - coincidence I think not!
On his marriage certificate to Betsy in 1860, He was now called William Hackin Gray.
William & Betsy's second child was called Sarah Ann Hackin Gray. However the record in the index read as Sarah Ann Hackingray and stopped her getting a pension for a while as they could not find her birth details in the official records.
Subsequent to Sarah Ann's birth the Hackin appears to have been dropped from all names.
